Enjoying Your Disney World Vacation
Since the park first opened in Orlando, Florida in 1971, going on a Disney World vacation has become synonymous with exciting, family-centric fun for generations of Americans.
Today, Walt Disney World is one of the largest and most visited theme park resorts in the entire world, with an area that spans more than 47 square miles that's divided into four separate theme parks, two water parks and more than 20 hotels.
Considering the resort's massive size, most visitors find it necessary to stay at least a few days to fully experience everything that Walt Disney World has to offer.
Of course, a Disney World vacation won't be complete without a visit to the fabled Magic Kingdom Park. The first Walt Disney World theme park to be established, Magic Kingdom is easily identified by landmarks such as Cinderella's Castle, which remains the central icon as you enter the gates and gaze down Main Street U.S.A. Magic Kingdom is still the most popular theme park in the resort, and is usually the initial stop for first-time visitors.
EPCOT, which stands for "Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow", was designed as a futuristic community that showcases technology, human achievement, and the different cultures of the world. A favorite attraction for many visitors, EPCOT's rides and attractions offer a mix of education and entertainment - not to mention lots of thrills - for kids and parents alike.
Disney's Hollywood Studios, formerly known as Disney-MGM Studios, is a celebration of Hollywood movie magic. The park gives guests the opportunity to see and experience the technology and special effects used in some of the greatest films ever produced. Some of the most thrilling rides in Disney World can be also found here, including Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith and Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror.
The most recent addition to Walt Disney World is Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Although this particular park has fewer rides than the other theme parks, it makes up for it by bringing guests to a lush, tropical land, where they can interact with animals and learn more about the world we share. But with new rides like the Expedition Everest roller coaster, the park still offers plenty of thrills.
